Attributes at the lot / serial number level

Target Audience: distribution companies which manage high value items with specific characteristics.

Impacted Areas: Purchase receipts, shipments, and sales orders (could be others). A new screen which exposes lot/serial numbers along with custom defined fields is often requested for importing data.

Sample Workflow: Distribution company receives lot/serialized items which have specific attributes. These attributes impact which serial or lot number can be sold on a sales order. The sales person would like to be able to find all widgets which can fit in a specific tolerance or have a specific feature.

Other notes: (1) This is difficult to implement properly as a customization because you need to touch purchase receipts, shipments, sales orders, and build a custom screen for modifying values. (2) Workaround is to enter a new inventory IDs for each serial numbered items - but this is not practical when there is a large number of attributes or attribute values.

This would be a great feature for us as well

I believe we use subitems in Acumatica to take care of different characteristics of our inventory. You can have up to 5 different categories. For example you have a widget, in the sub-items you can have categories like, size, packaging, origin, etc. So your product code would be Widget - Sub-items would state: 5lbs-Pallets-USA. This has worked great for us and it shows up on all items.

Is there any indication when this is going to be released (the official feature) as we also need it for 2 of our clients

Check the Github page. It says that it works on 2018 R2. I actually just installed it on 2018 R2 and it seems to be working fine so far.

A customization was published on GitHub: https://github.com/Acumatica/Acumatica-LotSerialNbrAttribute

This customization allows you to specify attributes by lot/serial class, assign them when items are received, modify attributes using an import scenario or an inventory screen, view attributes and pick the appropriate one on asales order.

We are in midst of developing attributes for serialized inventory at Purchase and Inventory receipts screen and also has capability to search across attributes we can certainly do this as a customization package until we release an extension/plugin. If your interested reach out to me info@info-sourcing.com

Prospect distributes pipe ... wants to record a 'heat number' on each serialized item. Also have the need to cut the pipe and maintain the same heat number on the remaining piece.

The ability to edit the attributes as well and allocate by attribute

Example: a Ready Date for a wholesale plant nursery

We have one prospect that absolutely needs it and others that could use it.

Our instance has specific customization for that feature. I would love to see attributes on the lot/serial IDs being implemented in vanilla Acumatica with every screen changed.

A cannabis prospect also requires this. They need to track attributes such as the level of THC from receipt to sale at the lot level.

Attributes are a key feature of Acumatica but when an item has attributes at the serial number, having different parts is not practical.  for instance, I want to order more of a product, I just want to order 15 more.  They may come with different colors and sizes but I have this one part that is the master and that is what is important.  We would use this several different industries if it was capable.  Handy at the lot as well.
