Generic Inquiry - Export To Excel - Header Fields and Parameters

Currently, when you export a Generic Inquiry to Excel, the parameters and some other header stuff gets put above the grid like this:

I think it would be nice if the Generic Inquiry exported like this instead, without the header stuff:

But the header information is useful, so if it could be exported to a separate worksheet tab, something like this, that would be awesome:

Last note, the idea to add the header information to a separate worksheet tab is not mine. I was told by a Sage reseller that this is how Sage Intelligence does it. It seems like a great idea to me.

Great idea.  My muscle memory immediately selects and deletes the parameter rows of all exported Excel files from Acumatica.

Of course, it would be easier to work the data that have been downloaded from Acumatica in excel

I love the separate tab idea for the parameters.  It is often useful to find out why data is (or is not) included in an Excel export and knowing the parameters is a great diagnosis tool.

This a fantastic idea. I frequently have employees ask me to build them an inquiry to export out information they intend to re-upload. The headers are just a nuisance to them and I frequently get complaints about the fact that they have to open and manipulate the data, instead of just being able to download and upload. This is a huge time suck. The headers really only apply for debugging/dev work.

Great idea with a separate tab. We'll think about implementing it in the future.

Please do this one.  I'm sure the work is already done for internal resources.  Just release to the customers to save us hours of frustration.  I've never worked on an ERP that didn't have this documented for customers.

    Hi Jeff,

We don't hide any features from our partners and customers :-)

This enhancement has been implemented, it will be shipped in 2018R2 Preview 2.

Already implemented? Wait, wait, two quick change requests:

    1. Rename Sheet1 to Data so you'll have two sheets: Data and Parameters. Make sure Data is the first sheet in case someone is going to turn around and upload this file somewhere.
    2. Turn the data on the Data sheet into an Excel table since tables are a lot easier to work with in Excel. You can do it with this Excel option:

Sorry, my comment was for the Schema Browser idea.  Not meant for this topic.  Not sure how I got it on the wrong thread, but I was reviewing several ideas that day.

Agreed every export we end up deleting these lines so we can use excels sort or pivot table features.

    Hi Tim,

Yes, it is already implemented. But it seems that I read your mind - the first tab was called exactly as you wanted it to be.

Regarding the second idea - please create a separate item so it'd be easier to track it. We have some ideas about turning the data into a table with attached OData connection to quickly refresh the data without any changes in formatting.

Awesome Vladimir. That's a good sign when two people independently think of the same name.

Regarding your OData idea, that's brilliant! I love it! I hadn't thought of that.

Here is a link to the new idea that I just created which includes both of these ideas:

Just wanted to say thanks for shipping this. I've been doing a bunch of exports tonight and not having to delete the rows at the top every time is REALLY pleasant. Sometimes it's the little things that make a big difference.
