Inventory Item Merge

It would be useful to be able to merge inventory items together including history.

We are working with a prospect that needs this. And, they also want to be able to take a non-stock item and merge it to an inventory item.

This is a must to keep INV list clean. All businesses deal with item duplication and this causes inaccurate reporting across all purchases, sales, inventory planning, etc.

    Any update on this?

Our SKU list is just a mess and I foresee some duplicate entries that may not be caught immediately.

This can occur for several reasons, such as user error creating the second item by accident, changes in product, as well as the other posts below.

I believe that the items to be merged would need to be the same valuation method.  I think that it would be preferable to merge item A into B versus creating a third item.

    Some examples:

1.Manufacturers sometimes have multiple SKUs for the same product based on sales destination market. When regulations change they may decide to discontinue one version as obsolete and sell the other to all markets. At that point in Acumatica we would want to merge both items with all the history as it no longer makes sense to have 2 separate items.

    2. An unique inventoryID may have been created by a user in error ( because it is the first time receiving an item from a particular vendor, but the item actually already existed) or intentionally( perhaps differences in cost are so big between manufacturers that it is worth costing separately within the same warehouse). At a later date the error is discovered or the cost balances out and we wish to merge the item with its history.

    To your points below:

Items A and B should be able to be merged either into each other as A or B and also into a 3rd C ideally. but most important that A & B can be merged into each other.

The valuation method should be able to be different.

Many scenarios, but here is just one:

From time to time we consolidate our product listing and reduce it from say 3 offerings to 1.  The remaining item is expected to have the same sales volume of the 3 combined.  We have to really monitor the item until enough history is acquired in Acumatica.

Thank you for submitting your idea. Please provide additional information (specific use cases, idea clarification, business scenarios, feature details) so we can evaluate how this will benefit to Acumatica customers.

Should Item Merge merge just stocks of items A and B under some item C (aggregating item)? Should it be possible only for items with one and the same valuation method?
