Show commitment details instead of summary on the Project > Commitments tab

In the project screen, there is a commitments tab that shows a list of all the purchase orders related to the project. It is cumbersome of users to click into each PO to see the detail. This tab should behave more like the stand alone commitment screen that shows the line details of the PO. This way, project managers looking at the project screen see what has been received and what is open at an item/line level.

    To add to Melanie's question can the following Report also be a great enhancement:
    I also find the reporting for the commitment analysis is very weak.
    A client had a huge emotional fall out on me today for the fact the Acumatica has all these nice data gathering mechanisms, like the GL Entries, PO's, SO's & Project Budgets, but hardly any measurement criteria to ensure that expenses are track against projects plus hardly any commitment analysis. They sign off daily on PO Approvals, but nowhere can they track how far from over-spending they are on MTD & YTD comparisons.

    In a previous New Idea, I had also contributed to the fact that PO Requisitions that don't link into Projects, Tasks & Cost Codes are a total oversight and should be part of PO Commitment processing as a workflow.

    Lastly, the fact the PO Rejections don't have the same Rejection Reasons as expense claims is also a question to how could they oversee this requirement as not a necessity 

     

    Here is a suggested report to measure PO approvals for MTD & YTD (Landscape left half MTD & right half YTD)

    Per Project, per Task per Cost Code, should the Fin Manager have access to a report stating the following field headings:
    Actual GL Entries     Open PO's     Project Budget    Project Budget Procure Remainder    Open SO's    Project Budget Rev Remainder

     (Project Budget Procure Remainder = Project Budget - Actual GL Entries  - Open PO's [Approved])

     (Project Budget Rev Remainder = Project Budget - Actual GL Entries  - Open SO's [Approved] / Proforma Invoices)

    Should you set-up the Cost Codes as a 1:1 relation to the related GL Account, can you accomplish a GP Report at the same time by creating the far left column the following Account Groups:

    (Column A)
     * Income

    * Direct Cost (COGS)

    * Expenses

    = Total Profit or Loss 

    (Column B)

    GL Codes / Cost Codes

    There might be more Cost Codes, per heading in Column A's Account Groups.

    Hi Melanie,

    What if we add navigation from the Projects form PM301000 to the Commitments form PM306000 which would pre-fill the project?

    The Commitments tab on the Projects form is for a different scenario - when the user wants to find a PO/subcontract while on the Projects form and go to the document, which might be On Hold, Pending Printing... when it's not yet reflected as a commitment.

    Thank you for looking at my idea.

    For large projects with many tasks, it is cumbersome for the end-user to go to each line of cost budget and drill into View Commitments. As for the Commitments form, it is how my clients view details at this time. I believe a great enhancement would be to show the same level of detail within the project commitment tab. This way, the project managers can see all commitments at detail level for the project, within the project screen, without having to drilldown or go to another form. For example, consider a client that uses a project administrator to setup all the long-term projects/budgets within a company. Their project managers manage large construction projects and do not have time to learn Acumatica in depth (or maybe they are not tech saavy) and want one place, the project screen, to show them everything. When they go into the project commitment tab, they have to drill into the PO and that PO can have lines for many other projects. Alternatively, they go into the commitment form and they have to reselect the project.

    Hi Melanie,

    This functionality is already available in the system.

    On the Cost Budget tab of the Projects form (PM301000), you can select a line of interest and click View Commitments button to view the details.

    The Commitments PM306000 form appears that is intended for search and review of commitment lines. On this form, you can also filter records by PO number and review lines.
