Standalone Report Designer

In previous Acumatica versions, we had access to a Report Designer installation package. The advantage of it was that we could install Report Designer on servers or workstations, wherever the the report editor had access to. However , in the new 2018R2 version, we have to install the Acumatica Configuration Tool if we want to use Report Designer even when Configuration tool does not need or must not be installed.

    Hi Eudes,

I apologize for the inconvenience. We re-wrote our MSI installer from the ground up, so we need some time to create a separate installation package for Report Designer.

This item is planned for 2019R2 release.

    Hi Vladimir,

Yes, I have heard about v2019. Great stuff but I Imagine the complexity for Engineering has increased a lot.

Thanks for the update. I look forward to having v2019r2

Glad to hear that this is planned. This will be great to have back.

This item will be available in 2019R2 Preview 1. However, we decided to keep only one MSI package to simplify the deployment process, but this package will have the possibility to choose which features you want to install (e.g. Report Designer only). So it will be possible to install Report Designer without Acumatica Configuration Tool.

Ah, so we still have to have someone download the gigantic 200+MB file rather than the slim, sleek, lightweight 3MB file? :)

MYOB created something called FileGetter.aspx to handle this which was pretty clever. You can read about it here:

Can I just say that this was a very poor decision to bundle it in to the ERP installer, but I'm sure there must be a very good technical reason for doing this (DAC related, perhaps).  Please help us to understand the business logic of this.  We are now expected to distribute full ERP Installers to clients so they can create and modify forms and reports?

Vladimir Panchenko, are we still getting the stand alone installer in 2019R2?

Hi Acumatica, I'm running 2018 R2, web version only.  Where do I go to download the design reporter?

The big issue isn't only that you need the ERP installer, it is that even if you only check Report Designer, the wizard requires IIS to be installed.

The Acumatica 2019 R2 installer (Setup Wizard) allows you to install only the Report Designer without requiring IIS. You are still required to download the larger file.

    That's progress. Thank you!
