Allow for Stock Items to be added to a Project without the need to be added to the Warehouse Location

For a Stock Item to be added to a Project - Acumatica forces the addition of the Project and Task Code to the Warehouse Location. This creates issues with the time and effort required for every Stock Item that can feature on a Project has to be added to the Warehouse Location Project-Task.

    We created a work around:

    We have a customization which creates a project location in a virtual warehouse everytime we create a project.  The location only needs to be created not the location and task for each item.  

    Ex:

    Project 12345 is created for our Florida Location

    The customization creates the LocationID 12345 in PRJFLA warehouse.

    The Description is brought from the project, made active check box included and Project selected without a task.

    Correction - the Item does not need the Warehouse location.  Instead, the Warehouse has to have a location for every project/task combination.

    Hey Derrick,

     

    How do you then issue the material to the Project/Task as an actual cost?

     

    I like the idea of only setting up one Warehouse Location per Project, but the Projects in my scenario each have multiple Tasks associated with them. Do your Projects have multiple Tasks too? If so, I'm curious how you handle this.

     

    When I go to create the Inventory Issue transaction, the Issues (IN302000) screen defaults the Project and Project Task values once I enter a Warehouse and Location. This is great that they default because I could create a separate "PROJECT" Warehouse and easily periodically create a giant Issue transaction to issue materials from the "PROJECT" Warehouse to the various Projects. But I think I would need a separate Warehouse Location for every combination of Projects/Tasks as far as I can see.
