Leverage Project Templates in Project Quotes

Currently a project can be created from a quote or from a template but you cannot leverage SOV or SubJob Template lines directly from a template in a quote.

I don't understand the rationale behind this but I would have thought that an organization that is a specialty subcontracting bidding for the same kind of jobs on a recurring basis would be expecting to have a means of using the same template that could be used to create a project as a means of generating a project quote

    Hi Ian,

Yes you can designate project tasks in the lines of a project quote (see the attached screenshot).

You can also build a generic inquiry with a pivot table on top of estimation lines to see profitability at the project task level in a project quote.

    Best regards,

    Kate

Does it provide the flexibility to have costs and revenue to be independently managed and for the user to specify which costs will be costs of which project task? I feel like the project quote foregoes some critical functionality.

Maybe if the project quote screen allowed for some ability to show profitability at a summarized project task level, to define some items that are cost only but relate to certain revenue lines or some items that are revenue only but to see them grouped by project task. So the ability to see the summary area data that is at the top right hand side of the screen but also for any specific task?

    Thanks

    Kindest regards

    Hi Ian,

Can the user build a cost estimate for a project in a project quote instead of a template?

This wouldn't work. If you're building a cost estimate for a project in a template in order to calculate profitability you should then be able to present that to a prospect as a quote.

The quote should then have the ability to become a project in the same way as a template can... this last part lready exists.

    Thanks

    Hi Ian,

Does the Copy/Paste or Save as Template functions on the Project Quotes form PM304500 address the scenario?

    See the screenshot attached.
