Display a "line number" field on material details that is always sequential

The Line Nbr. field on BOM Material Details is fixed, and doesn't reset or renumber the details when lines are deleted. As an example, a BOM with 5 material details is numbered 1, 2, 3, 4, 5. If line 4 is removed, the Line Nbr. fields subsequently read 1, 2, 3, and 5. It would make more sense if the field, at least on screen, displayed as 1, 2, 3 and 4. This is especially important on BOMs with a lot of details; users maintaining BOMs may want to confirm the total number of details against the line number to make sure they haven't missed anything when adding/ updating.

Yes, This has been a problem for me when I change a BOM.  I use the line Numbers to help make sure that my BOMS match.  It is very confusing when they dont line up.

The Line Nbr field is a standard line nbr field. Removing lines does not resequence the existing line nbr. If you need to reorder the numbers the Line Order field can be used. This is a line number where the user can change the sort order of the material. Reset line will also re-sequence the values if lines are removed.

Brendan, I noted this was recently changed to "Already exists" and read your comment. In testing on 2019 R2 sample manufacturing data, this still doesn't work as requested by the client who communicated this to me, or else I am not understanding how to get what they are asking for. In a BOM that originally has two material lines, they are numbered 1 and 2 in both the Line Nbr. and Line Order fields. If a new line item is added, that has a 3 in both fields. If line 2 is deleted, lines 1 and 3 are still labeled 1 and 3 in both fields. Even selecting Reset Lines doesn't do anything with the numbering in either of those fields.

Part of the reason this client is asking is for an easy way to view/verify that all lines on the  BOM are there in the case of a large BOM. For example, they know there should be 50 lines on the BOM. They want to verify that there are, in fact, 50 lines and if the number is different, they either have a line item on there they shouldn't, or one is missing.
