Available quantity to promise when placing orders

Scenario: A salesperson is on a call with a customer who wants to order 1,000 items. The customer wants to know when he can receive them. The salesperson can see 200 in stock, but must be able to quickly tell the customer when to expect the other 800.

Useful for: distribution companies who purchase large quantities of items (often from overseas) with long lead times.

Other considerations:

  • Include manufacturing lead times for manufacturing companies

  • Include work calendars, so holidays are properly tracked

  • External systems (such as a commerce system) should be able to get this information

  • Quantity to promise should be available from a sales order or as a stand alone report (perhaps in calendar format)

Currently working with a prospect that has requested this functionality. Please let me know if it is coming in the near future. Thanks

I have a current opportunity to migrate an existing customer from a legacy platform. The ATP in the legacy platform has been brokent for years and is a major trigger for moving. If this is not being considered, please let me know Doug. I will have our development team write it.

It would be great if open orders were also allocated inventory based on expected product arrival and requested ship dates. For example if a customer is ordering 400 pieces with a requested delivery date of 1/1/2020 and there are only 200 on hand currently but another 1,000 pieces arriving on 12/1/2019 it would be great if the product from the PO arriving on 12/1/2019 was allocated to the open order rather than on-hand inventory.

In this example the availability report would show 200 pieces available now and 600 pieces available on 12/1/2019 (this would be the 1,000 pieces on the PO minus the future allocated order of 400 pieces).

Here is the private forum discussion that I alluded to:

Acumatica VAR portal having by industry, ISV apps and VAR customizations

Having a private interactive discussion forum is a must. It needs to be monitored for misuse by ...... Membership has to be very strict. is great but public. is now more a marketplace for ISV vendors, and also quite public.

This is exactly what Sales and Operations Planning offers.  SourceDay helps us with the answer to a certain level. We badly, badly need this. I have brought this up many times before. Thanks to all the other people supporting this. Can we please, please, please have a private Acumatica partner discussion forum as part of the Acumatica Partner portal so partners and Acumatica employees can discuss ideas more privately. Just embed Yammer as a discussion forum in the Acumatica Partner portal. You could link this feedback website to that private discussion forum. I have layed out the structure of such a discussion forum in this feedback website since 2 years.

    Thanks for your help.

We have verified lost deals as a result.  Need this as it is foundational to a competitive distribution solution.

Recently had a prospect which needed requirements described above for available to promise for the Distribution Edition and was recommended to walk away from the project since Acumatica does not support this functionality.
