Ideas for Acumatica

Add Recent Menu and/or Universal Search option

It would be a great usability feature to have a menu option and/or a Tab in the Universal Search that shows the last X records accessed, grouped by type, ordered in the order that they were clicked on/viewed and have those items hyperlink to the related record.  For example, if you could see the last 5 AR Customers accessed and/or the last 5 Service Work Orders and/or the last 5 Projects.  Otherwise, you have to click in a number of places to get to the records you would like to see.  Here is a very basic mock-up:

    Hi Scott,

    Thank you for the suggestion. We're considering this feature for future releases.

    We were thinking about grouping the visited records either into "recently visited" and "popular" groups or by the time frames like "Today", "Yesterday", etc.

    One of the mockups is attached, feel free to share your thoughts.

    That looks good Vladimir and I think this will be a very welcome usability feature.  One reason that I suggested grouping records by module is so that users can use the recent section to aid them in quickly finding the last X item of a particular type of record.

     

    Say, for example that a user asks themselves the question "What was that Opportunity I looked at last week?  It was the last Opportunity I visited (or thereabouts), I think?  I need to create a new Quote for it.".  Under the screen that you are showing, that Opportunity would have potentially fallen off since the user may have visited a number of records since accessing that last Opportunity.  If this is grouped my module, then you increase the usability of this feature even more.

     

    Either way, you will increase usability, but I think grouping my module expands this usability.

    Thanks for the feedback!

    We can group them by screen, for example (Customers, Vendors, Opportunities), but there are many screens in the system, so the list can grow significantly. Even in this case, the record might fall off since we cannot show hundreds of records there.
