Ability to create a quote for a prospect

Should have the ability to create a formal quote for a prospect.  Currently the record needs to be customer in the customer master.  Quotes go to prospects as well as existing customers.

    This is an ongoing issue.

    Not all quotes turn into sales orders or invoices. Therefore we should be able to quote against a prospect as well as a customer.

    Yes I know that we can now create an opportunity and create a special quote from here, but this is a very slow and awkward way to go about the problem. 

    We need to be able to make regular quotes for both customers and prospects.

    Hi ,

    The ability to create a quote for a prospect is a required feature as not all quote's sent out would necessarily be converted to an invoice ( customer ) . It would help to have a way of tracking the quotes sent to prospects which were not converted.

    Joel, our payment gateway allows for the ability to send invoices and have them paid via credit card / ACH. Is there going to be a button for 'pay now' on the invoice that will be generated, so us payment processors can build that functionality into our clients Acumatica instances?

    Make sure to keep the terminology straight. A business account and/or lead in the business account has an opportunity. When an opportunity has a lead decision maker who is credit worthy, has an acceptable outstanding balance if applicable, has a budget to pay for the opportunity to pay over time, then this opportunity can become a quote. A quote should be accompanied by a scope of work statement, a master sales agreement, and a general time line. All this makes up a proposal.  A nice example of this is in www.quosal.com . Once the proposal is signed and a deposit payment is made, the quote should be converted to a sales order. A sales order may lead to purchase orders and/or production orders. Once a sales order is getting fulfilled, invoices go out over time.

    Terminology and description as above can in glossary that is part of the user guide and training material.

    I have built a report off an Opportunity for that purpose.

    The site optionally calls this a Proforma Invoice or a Quote.

    I will attach the file -- feel free to improve and share.  (It needs to have at least 1 Product to print anything; the address area is changed from an Acu standard -- it looks to the branch address information to accomodate multi-branch configurations and the phone/fax are on one line.)

    I placed this on the Site Map under Customer Management>Reports>Forms (a new section).  I have not sorted out adding a Reports button and this report onto the Opportunity screen yet.
