Add ability to restrict users by Sales Order Type

Sales reps need to be able to enter quotess but not actual sales orders.  There are no restriction groups by order type; the use the same screen so role based security does not work; approval maps can only prevent users from releasing an order.  Support offtered no work around.  The ability to restrict users by order type would accomplish this.

You can already do this by using list entry points that was introduced in Acumatica 5; just create a list which only lists "QT" types, and make the order type field read-only so that user cannot change it.

For those of us who are not developers, can you explain how to do this without writing code?

No programming needed, this is just configuration using the tools provided in the ERP. Please open an implementation support case and we'll help you get it set up! Make sure to reference this post so the person who picks the case knows to contact me for questions :)

From what I have seen a workaround exists using GI's and having multiple entry screens per order type, but it is not very elegant or intuitive.  It would be better to have something like a restriction group for Order Types so everyone can use the same screen and the restriction group just shows the order type that group is supposed to see in the selector.  Or have a roles tab on the Order Types screen and select which roles are allowed to transact that order type.
