Search doesn't work in the lookups on primary screens (Items, Customers, Vendors, etc.)

Normally, when you type into a lookup (magnifying glass) field, Acumatica automatically does a contains search across the data in the ID and Description fields. However, this doesn't work on the primary screen for that lookup. For example, if you start typing an ID or Description into the Inventory ID field on the Sales Orders (SO301000) screen, the search will be performed, but it doesn't work on the Inventory ID field on the Stock Items (IN202500) screen because that is the defining screen for Inventory ID. The same is true for the Vendor ID and Customer ID fields. Is there a way to get the search to work on the defining screens for a lookup?

I just tried it on the Vendors (AP303000) screen in 18.103.0022 and it still doesn't work.

I type in "GOTO" and it doesn't search on Vendor Name:

But, the more I think about it, I don't think that this is possible because the field where you create the ID has to function differently than the lookup fields everywhere else in the system. The field in the screenshot above has to validate against the Segmented Keys, not do a search.

If this is indeed the case, it makes sense to me from a technical perspective. But I can see how users get confused when the search function isn't performed.

Sorry for the late answer. This functionality was implemented some time ago.

I've checked it on 2018R1 Update 3 on the following screens, and it seems to be working fine:

    • Customer Entry (works both by Customer ID and Customer Name)
    • Vendor Entry (Vendor ID, Vendor Name)
    • Stock / Non-Stock Items (Inventory ID, Description)
    • Sales Prices (searches by Price Code / Customer ID, doesn't search by Description - this is a bug, fix will be shipped in 2018R1 Updates)

Absolutly. This would be a great feature in the screens mentioned, including the price list as mentioned by russ.

Seeing it is already installed on some screens as Tim notes, wouldnt it be quite straightforward to extend this functionality to the rest of the screens?

Add Price List.  If you enter Customer as the price type, you have to know the customer code, can't search for it.  Even if you go to the look up/search icon.
