The Service Management needs to emulate the same process as Distribution module...specifically to "Mark for PO" on the inventory tab of a Service Order or Appointment. Over 50% of our service calls turn into a need for a new item to replace an EOL or defective item. Current process is to start with a Service Order>Appointment...then, if technician determines a replacement is needed, we have to create an SO in Distribution to order the item. There is then no way to link the Sales Order to the Service order backwards...only if you start from SO and "Handle through Svc Mgmt." As a short-term solution to full-on PO Linking between modules, it would be nice to be able to have the option to choose an existing Service Order during the "Handle through Svc Mgmt" process.
